Do I Need A Transfer Switch?

A transfer switch is an electrical switch that switches a load between two sources. All generators over 5,000 watts that do not have a built-in transfer switch require a manual or automatic transfer switch to safely transition from utility to generator power. An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is often installed where a standby generator is located, so that the generator may provide temporary electrical power if the utility source fails.

What Size Generator Transfer Switch Do I Need?

Do you need a 50 amp transfer switch or a 200 amp transfer switch? The answer depends on your generators and application. Let our team of power experts help you find the right transfer switch model to meet your needs. Call or visit your nearby Generac dealer, Papé Power Systems, to learn more.
